There are several free XSLT engines but many depend on non-free systems (it's 
very difficult to make XT work with kaffe, for instance).

No, IBM has no "free as in free speech, not free as in free beer" Java Virtual 
Machine. Or tell me the reference.

The only two more-or-less working Java VM which are free are kaffe and gcj.
