It is an open-source software, competes by some features with products from Oracle, so it is no surpise that more and more projects delegate such important duties like data-mining and data handling to PostgreSQL. And what's more important, the architectural design for this database is extremely powerful and conforms to KISS principal very close, so it is really very fun to deal with PGSQL internal programming, as well as maintaining it.
Running Encyclopaedia Britannica on Linux http://linuxgazette.net/186/brown.html Silas Brown Tue, 31 May 2011 23:50:16 -0500 By Silas Brown

Encyclopaedia Britannica is a commercial encyclopedia and is therefore non-free, but old versions of the CDs and DVDs can often be purchased cheaply in second-hand markets. If you follow their instructions, you can expect to see the basic encyclopedia articles and images, but you might have a more difficult time with the Webster dictionary entries and some of the multimedia.
Away Mission - May/June 2011 http://linuxgazette.net/186/dyckoff.html Howard Dyckoff Tue, 31 May 2011 23:50:16 -0500 By Howard Dyckoff

This is very full month, a Red Hat/MeeGo/Synergy month.
FreeBSD - An Intro for Linux Devotees http://linuxgazette.net/186/grebler1.html Henry Grebler Tue, 31 May 2011 23:50:16 -0500 By Henry Grebler

Let's get the disclaimers out of the way quickly.
HelpDex http://linuxgazette.net/186/collinge.html Shane Collinge Tue, 31 May 2011 23:50:16 -0500 By Shane Collinge

These images are scaled down to minimize horizontal scrolling.
XKCD http://linuxgazette.net/186/xkcd.html Randall Munroe Tue, 31 May 2011 23:50:16 -0500 By Randall Munroe

<img alt="[cartoon]" title="Wikipedia trivia: if you take any article, click on the first link in the article text not in parentheses or italics, and then repeat, you will eventually end up at "Philosophy".
