As the mistake has been rectified, I don't see that there's any harm in mention what the original source was. I assume it was "Programming with pcap" http://www.tcpdump.org/pcap.htm

Yes. I couldn't dig up my article either, where the source was mentioned..

It is also interesting that the tcpdump.org web site not been updated since February '06 according to web.archive.org, and is currently completely gone according to my explorations.
